Harmonize Every Voice, Orchestrate Our Future
About Us
The word "Serenade" refers to a musical performance given to honor someone, traditionally sung or played outdoors at night beneath a window.
We chose the name Serenade because we see our role as both listeners and creators for the student body. To us, to serenade means to first listen to the voices of Munsangnites, then translating them into action, creating a harmonised performance of events and policies tailored just for them.
Through thoughtful listening, Serenade promises to dedicate ourselves to creating an environment where every student feels supported and heard.
Vision and Mission
1. Incorporate students' voices into policy making
We, Serenade, believe that it is of utmost importance that our fellows' feedback be heard as well as actions be made accordingly. As we noticed in the past years our peers seem to have a considerable amount of opinions of student association policies yet no clear way to communicate feedback. Hence, we aim to set up opinion boxes throughout the school campus to make expressing opinions more accessible for students. A monthly review of these feedbacks will be conducted, and we promise to try our best to cater to each and every perspective. We truly believe every inquiry, idea, and feedback deserves to make a difference.
2. Provide welfare for students
It is the responsibility of student associations to seek support for our students, whether on or off campus. Thus, by engaging in partnerships with local and online businesses, Serenade aims to provide a broad network of exclusive discounts and benefits ranging from everyday essentials to entertainment activities, easing daily financial pressures for our peers.
3. Ensure a well-rounded development
Serenade acknowledges that in order for an individual to thrive in different environments, they must develop multiple skills, some of which not taught in textbooks. Therefore, we will provide several activities to improve different aspects of students' ability. For instance, joint school camp, joint school Christmas ball, singing competition can foster students' social skills, leadership skills, boost confidence and more. By providing diverse learning opportunities, we trust that students can develop all round skills, which can be applied in all stages of life, even beyond school years.
4. Foster an environment for students to unwind
As students face immense academic pressure, Serenade makes it our mission to help students de-stress and improve their mental wellbeing. On top of various game activities and competitions, we will also host several activities in the student corner, such as board game competitions and pool games, through which students can enjoy quality time with their schoolmates. We hope to provide a temporary escape from daily stress for our peers. As the saying goes, one cannot pour from an empty cup. Resting is vital for success, and Serenade desires above all else to see our fellow Munsangnites prosper.
5. Expand students' social networks
We believe every student benefits from a diverse, supportive network. That being so, we host several activities with different themes, including some joint school events, aiming to help students find their own communities whether within the school or outside. By connecting students with peers of similar interests or goals, we help them broaden their social horizons and build meaningful relationships that extend far beyond the classroom
